2014 EcoLand Art
The studio design project focused on the conversion of a 3.8 acre underutilized lot into a public demonstration garden that would be a gathering space for the community, an outdoor classroom for eco-literacy. The project was developed in stages of increasing complexity, from overall concept site plan to design development of a portion of the site to detail design of one element.
Program
The site is to be developed as a multi-use public space, with space allotted as follows:
• 2.5 acre primary performative landscape of stormwater
• 2,600 sf gathering space with shade (in one central space, or divided into smaller spaces)
• Restroom (2 female/2 male)
• Stormwater and waste management strategy
• .25 acre secondary demonstration area for performative landscape or technology of native habitat restoration
• Passive recreation and picnic areas
• Pedestrian access to all key elements, ADA accessible
• Balanced cut and fill
